- General evacuated tubes used for blood collection. Blood is drawn from the veins into the tube held in a specially designed holder with a needle attached. All tubes have color-coded stoppers designating sample identification and additive type. Red tubes contain no additive and is used when a clotted sample producing serum is required, such as blood banking or chemistry tests.
