- The Kendall Curity Thoracentesis Tray. Kendall offers two variations of their Thoracentesis Tray. The Kendall 5014 offers a 16 ga. x 3-1/2-inch Aspirating Needle. The Kendall 5016 offers a 17ga x 6-inch Aspirating Needle and a 14ga x 6-inch Teflon with Adjustable Depth Guard. Standard Components for both trays are: Sterile Contents: Prep tray - (1) Underpad, (1) Prepping Applicator sponges, (1) Removable Prep Tray Procedure Tray - (3) 3"x3", 12 ply gauze sponges, (1) 5ml Lidocaine HCI Injection USP 1%, (1) 25ga. X 5/8" Skin Infiltration Needle, (1) 21ga. X 1-1/2" Deep Infiltration Needle, (1) Plastic Syringe, 5cc Luer Slip, (1) Plastic Syringe, 50cc Luer Lock, (1) Two-way Control Valve Assembly, (3) 8cc Specimen Vials & Caps, (1) Collection Bag, 1500cc with quick disconnect, (1) Fenestrated Drape, (1) 1" x 3" CURITY Adhesive Bandage, (1) Lidocaine Drug Insert Sheet All the components in this tray are Latex Free. Fully automatic two-way valve requires only simple pulling and pushing of the syringe plunger for automatic withdrawal and diversion of pleural fluid, eliminating the necessity for constant manipulation. Aspirating needle is equipped with a unique depth clamp that easily adjusts to the desired level of insertion and then locks into place, reducing the risk of over-penetration of the needle into the chest cavity. Once assembled, the closed system allows pleural fluid to be aspirated, and collected with reduced risk of external contamination.
