Frame style applicationkeeps dressing from bunching or folding over (like transparent kitchen wrap can sometimes do). The sterile "breathable" barrier lets oxygen in and moisture vapor out to encourage healing and reduce skin maceration. Impermeable to liquids and bacteria to protect site.
