- The highly absorbent unique structure of Allevyn Tracheostomy dressing enables it to absorb large amounts of secretion. This prevents maceration and so helps to maintain the condition of the patient's skin in the peristomal area. High absorbency also means that fewer dressing changes are required, which makes the dressing not only more cost effective but also minimizes discomfort for the patient. The non-adherent, advanced design minimizes adherence to both the peristomal skin and the tracheostomy tube, thereby reducing trauma for the patient during use and removal. Easy to apply and remove the `keyhole' aperture in the dressing allows straight forward handling so that the dressing fits neatly and easily around the tracheostomy tube. If required, the dressing may be cut to shape. Removal of the dressing is also simple and painless, causing minimal distress to the patient. The soft and conformable incorporation of a foam layer offers significant benefits in terms of patient comfort and protection. The high inbuilt strength allows confidence in use. Its non-fibrous construction also means that fiber shedding is not a problem.
